25m Centre Fire & .22 Pistol

The 25m competition is open to centre fire semi-autos and revolvers up to .38 calibre as well as .22 rim fire semi-autos and revolvers. Both calibres are shot simultaneously and can be run up to world championship levels.

Course of fire

The match is divided into two distinct parts, each using different targets.

Part 1 – Precision stage

  • 3 series of 10 shots (30 shots total).
  • Each series fired as 2 strings of 5 shots with a reload under RO supervision.
  • Shooters have 5 minutes per series from a free-standing, single-handed position.

Part 2 – Rapid fire stage

  • 30 individual shots fired on turning targets.
  • Each shot must be fired within 3 seconds of raising the arm from a 45° starting position.
  • Timed turning targets are controlled by the RO, with the targets edge-on for 7 seconds between exposures.

The target

The target for this competition has a diameter of 500 mm and is marked from 1 on the outside to 10 at the bullseye, which measures 50 mm in diameter. The target face is white with a black section starting at the 7 ring.

Standard Pistol (.22LR)

Standard Pistol is exclusively for .22LR calibre semi-autos and revolvers, and is held to world championship standards. The shoot comprises three timed stages that progressively increase the difficulty.

Target details

Standard Pistol uses the same 500 mm diameter target with a white face and scoring from 1 to 10. The bullseye is 50 mm across and sits inside a black centre beginning at the 7 ring, rewarding precise shot placement.

.22 Rifle Competition

CDPC has created its own .22 rifle competition using .22LR standard rounds only. The match is shot at 25 m on custom targets, and competitors can use either scopes or iron sights.

Course of fire

Stage 1 – Supported bullseyes

  • 25 shots from a standing supported position.
  • Five bullseye targets, each scored 1–5.
  • Outside ring 90 mm, bullseye 20 mm.

Stage 2 – Unsupported bullseye

  • 15 shots from a standing unsupported position.
  • Single bullseye target scored 1–10.
  • Outside ring 200 mm, bullseye 40 mm.

Stage 3 – Feral animal silhouettes

  • 5 shots at each of 3 feral animal silhouettes (15 shots total).
  • Score lines 1 (outside) to 10 (centre).
  • Scoring rings follow the animal outline and an optimal humane kill zone.

There is no set sequence or time limit for this match, allowing participants to shoot at their own pace and convenience.

Classic Pistol

Classic Pistol is a competition that features classic handguns of .38 to .45 calibre breech loading. Firearms should have no significant modifications, highlighting the character and history of the original designs.

Match format

The competition is run in a similar way to the 25m Centre Fire / .22 competition:

  • Stage one: 2 groups of 10 shots.
  • Stage two: 20 shots.
  • Scoring and flow follow the 25m format, but Classic Pistol is a separate match.

Uniquely Australian

Classic Pistol is a unique competition to Australia and is a favourite for shooters who enjoy heritage-style firearms in a structured ISSF environment.
